Outreach: Week 4

Written Jan 24, 2020:

Welcome back guys! This week we have been at Lake Malawi which when I think about it is the chance of a lifetime. Our cabins we are staying in are so nice and we have been blessed with so much food to make our own meals. And right in our own back yard we can go sit on a porch in a hanging egg chair and watch the beach. It looks and feels just like the beach with the waves crashing softly and a small pier jutting out into the water, the breeze cooling us in the heat. But the best part for me is the mountain range on the other side of the lake. You can see the mountain range rise above the horizon of the lake on the other side and it’s breathtaking.

We have been blessed to have some team time and also some good quality time with God. He has always spoken to me through waves and water so having the chance to be so near water is such a blessing.

As far as ministry this week, it has been crazy! God has been moving like fire here. We went to a school on Tuesday with hundreds if not over 1000 kids in the whole school. We got to do a program for years 1-3 and they were jam packed into that classroom, 240 kids in one classroom. What’s crazy though is that we saw over 100 salvations that day!

We did a lot of walking through the local village to the school for ministry and to houses as well
The view walking through the village was amazing
Wow

The next day we were with years 4-6 and they responded so well to the dances, songs, and stories we did. That day we saw over 100 salvations as well. That night we showed a movie called the Jesus Film and almost 300 people from the village ended up coming out to see it with over 100 salvations again! It’s hard to imagine God has been moving so much through our small team.

I got to teach the kids about Jonah with our amazing guide and translator Frank!
What amazing prep and quiet time with an amazing view

Thursday we rested in the morning and had the most beautiful time of worship and intercession by the lake as a team. In the afternoon we went to pray for some people in the village. Originally we had only planned to pray for two people and we ended up seeing a grandma whose back was so bad she couldn’t stand up straight. We prayed and saw her stand up straight and then stretch her back backwards. We also saw two young women join the family of God, and we prayed for several people. God is so good, he just kept bring us to people.

We also had monkey friends that came out a few times while we were there

Friday we went back to the school and were with the older kids in year 7-8. There were significantly fewer people than the other years which makes me a bit sad but they were still willing to have fun and participate which made it such a fun time! We saw even more salvations as well! We were able to perform our skits and the response was great. I’m so glad they were able to enjoy it.

The students! There were about 400 kids in this pic. We went 3 days and saw a third of the kids each day

Saturday was our rest day and we went on a boat to go snorkeling and swim with fishes. We also got to feed eagles by throwing fish in the lake and we got to jump off rocks into the river as well! The lake was so clear and blue!

Sunday we went to a local church and I got to translate Si Jin’s preaching from Korean to English for the first time in public! It was so scary but I’m glad I did it and I think it won’t be the last time either. It was such an amazing church and especially their choir was amazing, made me tear up.

Today we left the lake and rode with 10 people in a truck for 7 hours to Blantyre where we will stay here for the next week. I wish I could explain more now, hopefully I’ll be able to post more soon, but until then thank you so much for waiting and I’m sorry it’s been so long. I love you all so much! Hugs from Blantyre.
