Week 6

Hey everyone! Welcome back! I hope you had a great week. I know I did. This week’s theme was Lordship and it was intense but very rewarding.

We talked about laying down rights this week and learned that any rights we have, even down to food, shelter, and family, were given to us by God. We learned the most loving thing we can do is lay those rights down at Jesus’ feet because he laid down all his rights for us, including his right to be God and to save himself from crucifixion. Anything in our lives that we love more than God becomes a god in our lives and separates us from Him. It was very challenging to think about and God revealed things to me that I didn’t even realize I was holding onto!

At the end of the week, we also had application and spoke out the things we were giving up for God and then we all formed a crowd and crowd surfed! It seemed really random but was very fun and lifted our spirits after the heavy morning.

I’m also reading my second book selection for the quarter called The Cross and the Switchblade which is an incredible story about a small town preacher following God’s call to go to New York and minister to kids in street gangs! I’ll be finishing that soon and making a video report on it as a response to the book.

On Saturday, we all had Korean barbecue as a DTS at our leader David’s house which was so delicious. It was my first time trying it and to have an authentic, homemade experience was so exciting. We also went swimming that day in the complex’s pool which was perfect because it was HOT.

Speaking of hot, there are Christmas decorations up everywhere here in Perth but it’s getting hotter which is extremely strange for me and the other Americans 😂 Still it’s interesting to see and experience!

I also was able to buy a few items of clothing secondhand from one of the DTS leaders, Glo, today. She and her friend Davin held a garage sale to help pay for their outreach fees, and the clothes I bought were things that I will be allowed to wear on outreach in Africa! The dress code is pretty strict so I will have to get creative but today helped a lot!

I think that’s it for this week! Thank you all so much for your prayers and support! I don’t take it lightly. Hugs from Perth! ❤️
